Build

Air Inlet and Right Front Wing Support

Step 1

Retrieve your Right Front Wing assembly from the previous stage. Fit the Air Inlet Grille into this matching location on the outside of the Front Wing, as shown:

Cover this Grille with the Air Inlet Cover, as shown:

Secure the Grille to the Wing from the inside with two (2) BP screws, capturing the Grille in place:

Step 2

Fit the Right Front Wing Support to the inside of the Front Wing, orienting it over the screw posts as shown:

Secure this Support into place with three (3) EM screws.

This is your friendly reminder to try using 3-in-One Oil on all screws going into metal:

Step 3

Retrieve your Hood assembly from Stage 75. Apply a few drops of oil to the Air Spring Piston Rod on both sides of the Hood to help lubricate them inside the Air Spring Cylinders:

Step 4

Retrieve your Body assembly from Stage 80. Fit the Hood assembly to the Body, aligning the two posts on the bottom of each Hinge to the matching holes at these locations forward of the Windshield, as shown.

You can fit the Hood to the Body with the Hinges open or closed, whichever method is easier for you:

We just want to make sure when the Hood is closed, it is fully seated and level with the sides of the Motor Bay Frame as shown:

Step 5

Secure the Hinges of the Hood assembly to the Motor Bay Frame from below with four (4) GM screws – two on each side.

Before turning the Body assembly upside down to add these screws, I taped across the Hood to keep it from opening:

This makes it easier to install the screws while keeping the Hood aligned correctly. There is a small amount of play in these holes which can be used to position the Hood as straight as possible:

Step 6

We should now be able to open and close the Hood without any binding or difficulty. To open the Hood, lift up the rear edge first, then rotate the front edge up:

Step 7

The Hinge assemblies can be adjusted to change the stiffness of the Hood operation. Tighten or loosen these two screws on each side to set the resistance to your preference:

Step 8

Fit the Right Front Wing assembly to the right front corner of the Motor Bay Frame, as shown:

Step 9

Begin to secure the Front Wing to the Frame with two (2) EM screws at the front, as shown:

Step 10

Finish securing the Wing to the Frame with two (2) VM screws at the rear, as shown:

Thoughts

In this one stage, we installed two large sections of our Body assembly. I have been impressed by the quality of the black paint on these parts. They do arrive with a light coating of silicone oil from the factory and respond well to being wiped down with a microfiber cloth. There are a few tiny scratches here and there, but I plan on giving the model a nice polish once the Body is complete.
