Build

Right Front Headlights

Step 1

Retrieve your Front Bumper assembly from Stage 2 and place it on a soft surface. Fit the Right Headlight Bracket to this location on the right-side interior, and secure it into place with one (1) AM screw.

Just like the first one we received, the small green dot on this part is a pedestrian sensor that was likely present on the K.I.T.T. replica vehicle that Fanhome scanned in order to create this model. It was not actually present on the real TV cars, so I did not install it on my model:

However, I did use the AM screw to install my Metal Front Bumper Grilles from Mike LaneThis is also your friendly reminder to try using 3-in-One Oil on all screws going into metal:

Step 2

Drop each of the Right Headlight Lenses into a Right Headlight Frame.

The large raised centers of the Lenses should go through the frames so the Lens edges sit in the recesses on either side of each frame, as shown:

Step 3

Fit a Right Headlight Housing to the rear of each Right Headlight Frame, as shown.

If the screw holes do not line up, turn your Housing around. Each assembly should look like this:

Secure these three Housing assemblies together with six (6) AP screws into the smaller holes – two screws in each:

Step 4

Fit one of your Housing assemblies into the inside right of the Front Bumper, as shown. Each Housing will align over two posts – then secure it into place with two (2) AP screws.

NOTE: You may notice that I replaced my stock scanner circuit board with the Brickstuff Scanner Upgrade in these pictures.

When fitting these Housing assemblies, make sure the smaller ‘tab’ is at the top:

Step 5

Repeat the previous step to secure the other Housings into the Front Bumper with four (4) more AM screws – two screws in each:

Step 6

Fit the posts of the Left Front Bumper Bracket and Right Front Bumper Bracket into the matching holes at these locations on the top of the Front Bumper, as shown.

Fun Fact: On a real ’82 Trans Am, this area would have been where the amber turn signals were. On K.I.T.T., these black covers were added to hide them:

Step 7

Secure these two Bumper Brackets into place from the other side with four (4) BP screws – two for each Bracket.

The instructions say BM screws, but the correct BP screws are provided with this stage and should be used here:

Step 8

Head over to your Chassis assembly and disconnect the Front Light Wire 1 (marked ‘R’) cable from the plugs at the Dashboard:

Step 9

Press the three LEDs on the shorter wires of this cable into the holes on the back of the left side Housings, as shown.

Note the Front Bumper is upside down in these pictures:

Similarly, press the three LEDs on the longer wires of this cable into the holes on the back of the right side Housings, as shown:

Thoughts

It feels like it has been forever since we installed the first set of fog lights into our Front Bumper! We will secure these wires better in the next stage, so keep this assembly nearby.
