Hinge, Gears and Window for the Left Door

Step 1

Retrieve your Left Door assembly from the previous stage. Fit the thin bar of the Left Door Hinge Support into the matching groove at this location inside the Door. Make sure it is facing the proper direction, as shown.

When I work with painted exterior parts, I place them down on a soft cloth to protect them:

Step 2

Fit the Door Hinge Cover over this pin and screw hole of the Door capturing the Hinge Support in place, as shown:

Secure this Hinge Cover into place with one (1) NM screw.

The tighter you make this screw, the stiffer the door will be to open/close. Adjust to your preference (for me, a bit tighter is better). This also is your friendly reminder to try using 3-in-One Oil on all screws going into metal:

Steps 3-4

Peel the two Self-Adhesive Detail stickers from the backing paper and apply them along the upper inner edge of the Door.

The purpose of these Detail stickers is to help prevent scratching the Windows as they are rolled up/down:

NOTE: As part of the Door Carpets, Badges and Rear Sail Panel Trims mod from Mike Lane, these vinyl Self-Adhesive Details are removed and replaced by soft Felt Strips. A set of four is included so both sides of the door parts touching the window are covered for even better protection.

Compared to the other partwork vehicles I have built, I am happy so far with the construction of this Door. While we did not use the Left Door Window and Gears in this stage, keep them nearby as we will install them in the next one.
