Build
Front Interior Panels
Step 1
Fit the three tabs of the Passenger Dashboard Panel 2 to the matching holes of the Passenger Dashboard Panel 1, then secure these parts together with three (3) BP screws:
Step 2
Retrieve your Dashboard assembly from the previous stage. Fit the long posts of this Passenger Dashboard Panel assembly to the matching posts on the passenger side of the Dashboard, as shown:
Secure the Passenger Dashboard Panel assembly into place with two (2) CP screws:
Step 3
Retrieve your Chassis assembly and unplug the Floor Lights cable (marked ‘F’) from the Circuit Board:
Step 4
Retrieve your Instrument Panel assembly from Stage 47. Separate the LEDs on the Floor Lights cable a bit and pass the LED on the yellow/green wires through this hole on the left side of the Instrument Panel as shown.
In the same way, pass the LED on the red/black wires through this hole on the right side of the Instrument Panel as shown:
As both of these LEDs do the same thing, it doesn’t really matter which LED goes to which side:
Step 5
Position the cables inside the Instrument Panel as shown and fit the pins of the three Cable Ties over the cables and into the matching holes of the Panel. Then, secure the Cable Ties into place with three (3) AP screws, one for each.
Make sure the Floor Lights cable wires are still able to move left and right after these Cable Ties are installed:
Step 7
NOTE: To help manage the wiring (reduce slack), I saved Step 6 for last.
Fit the two Floor Lamp Housings to the Front Left/Right Interior Panels as shown, then secure them into place with two (2) BP screws.
These Floor Lamp Housings can accidentally be installed upside down. Note how they have an angled surface:
When installed on the Interior Panels, the thicker side should be facing the bottom of the Panel, as shown:
You may notice that I have also added the first two pieces of Mike Lane Mod’s Front Carpets set here:
Step 8
Fit the Front Left Interior Panel to the left side of the Instrument Panel assembly as shown, then secure it into place with one (1) CP screw:
Fit the Floor Lights LED on the yellow/green wires into the hole of the Floor Lamp Housing.
I recommend gently bending the leads of this LED to a 90° angle so they can fit flat against the Interior Panel, as shown:
Then, slide the slack of this wire back through the Instrument Panel towards the center of the car:
Step 9
In a very similar way to the previous step, fit the Front Right Interior Panel to the right side of the Instrument Panel assembly as shown, secure it into place with one (1) CP screw, and fit the Floor Lights LED into place:
As before, I gently bent the leads of this LED flat against the Panel and pulled the wire slack inside:
Step 6
Fit the Instrument Panel to bottom of the Dashboard, making sure the Dashboard wiring is passing over it as shown:
As we do this, we also want to make sure the Steering Column rests in the correct slot of the Instrument Panel (circled below):
Begin securing the Instrument Panel into place with one (1) BP screw at the center:
Finish securing the Dashboard to the Instrument Panel with two (2) BP screws at the locations shown, one on each side:
These Floor Light LED cables can now be bundled and taped together with the existing Dashboard wiring.
Thoughts
Our Dashboard now has legs! I am looking forward to building our interior so this assembly can be mounted permanently.
