STAGE 39

 Return to the BUILD

“In this stage, you will assemble the brake drum and the parts that make up the rear right wheel.”

This stage will be the same process as with the left rear wheel we installed in Stage 37.

Right Rear Wheel

Step 1

Fit the Rear Right Wheel into the center of the Rear Right Tire, as shown.

While handling this Rear Right Wheel, be careful not to damage the delicate pre-installed valve stem (arrow below). Also, the Tire is the same on both sides, so it shouldn’t matter which side you start with.

TIP: If you soak the rubber Tire in warm/hot water for about 30 seconds first, it will be much easier to assemble this wheel:

Step 2

From the other side, insert the Rear Right Wheel Rim into the Tire and align the three screw holes in both Wheel parts:

Secure the two Wheel parts together, capturing the Tire in between, with three (3) EM screws.

This is your friendly reminder to try using 3-in-One Oil on all screws going into metal:

Step 3

Fit the screw holes of the Rear Right Brake Drum over three of the five posts inside the Rear Left Wheel Rim, as shown:

Secure this Brake Drum into place with three (3) EM screws:

Step 4

Retrieve your Chassis from the previous stage. At the right rear corner, slide the center post of this Wheel assembly through the Brake Disc Base (installed in the previous stage) and onto the post of the Rear Axle as shown.

As with my Front Wheels, I also installed the Magnetic Hub Caps mod from Mike Lane Mods here:

Slide the Washer over the threads of one (1) OM screw…

… and secure the Wheel to the Rear Axle with this screw/Washer combination.

The tighter this screw is, the harder it will be to turn the wheel:

Step 5

Fit the Rear Right Hub to the outside of the Wheel, aligning it to the five ‘lug nut’ holes, then secure it into place with five (5) AM screws.

With the Magnetic Hub Caps mod from Mike Lane Mods, I did not install these screws on my model:

Thoughts

With this last Wheel installed, our K.I.T.T. is now has a rolling chassis. Make sure it can’t roll away!
