NOTE: The Fuel Line Retainer sits underneath the Chassis Rear Section in a small pocket of the packaging. It is small and loose, so try not to lose it!
Materials: The Chassis Rear Section 1 is metal and the other parts are plastic.

Installing the Engine
Step 1
Retrieve your Turbine assembly from the previous stage and your Front Chassis from Stage 19. Slide the Gearbox end of the Turbine assembly down into the engine cavity of the Front Chassis. Then, align the two posts on the Bottom of the Turbine Housing (23A) into the matching holes of the Front Axle Crossmember (6A) as shown.
You may find that the flanges on the Turbine Exhausts might get caught as you install the engine into the Chassis. If needed, give them a gentle squeeze to make enough room to pass them through the opening:
Once fitted into place, this is what it should look like from below. Be sure that no hoses are pinched or in the way:
Step 2
Secure the Turbine assembly into place from below with two (2) EM screws.
This is your friendly reminder to try using 3-in-One Oil on all screws going into metal:
Connect the free end of Radiator Hose 1 (18E) to the side pin of the gold Connector 1 (27D), as shown.
This required slow and careful effort with a strong pair of tweezers:
Step 3
Locate the free end of the Electronic Control Wire (28L) we ran under the Air Intake in the previous issue. Slide this onto the lower straight Wiring Terminal 2 (15H) pin on the side of the Electronic Control Unit, as shown:
Locate the free end of the Positive Battery Cable (28I) we connected to the bottom of the Compressor Chamber in the previous stage. Slide it onto this right-side Battery Terminal pin:
Step 4
Retrieve your extra Fuel Line 1 (28H) onto this vertical pin of the Left Front Wheel Arch.
I am still confused as to why they used the name Fuel Line 1 for a battery cable:
Connect the other end of this hose to this left-side Battery Terminal pin:
Assemble the Chassis Rear Section
Step 5
Retrieve your Battery Compartment with Switch from Stage 5. Fit this Compartment into the matching opening of Chassis Rear Section 1, with the wiring facing towards the switch slot as shown:
Step 6
Fit the shaft of the Switch itself down through the matching slot with the two wire connections (arrow below) toward the front of the car, as shown. Secure the switch into place with two (2) AM screws.
This is your friendly reminder to try using 3-in-One Oil on all screws going into metal:
Step 7
Secure the Battery Compartment into place with four (4) AM screws:
Step 8
Fit the three posts of the Chassis Rear Section 2 into the matching holes at this location on top of the Chassis Rear Section.
I believe this part is meant to represent the fuel tank of the real car:
Secure this Chassis Rear Section 2 into place from below with three (3) BP screws:
Step 9
Fit the Fuel Line Retainer on top of these two posts of the Chassis Rear Section 1 and secure it into place with two (2) AM screws.
Either I did not receive this part or I lost it – in the long run, I don’t think it will make much difference to my build. In case I find it later on, I have installed the two screws here just in case:
Step 10
Fit this Chassis Rear Section 1 to the rear edge of your Chassis Center Section.
Some tabs of this Rear Section go under the Center Section, and others go on top such as the center tab (circled below). You may find that you need to tweak the two sections a little to get them to fit together correctly:
Secure the Rear Section and Center Section together from above with five (5) GM screws:
Thoughts
I believe this stage marks the completion of the main Chassis assembly. We now have a general idea of how big our K.I.T.T. model is going to be when it is finished. Yes, another large-scale model to enjoy!
