Back Story
I grew up watching the early 80s television show Knight Rider each week after school. From the personality voiced by the late William Daniels to the fantastic Turbo Boost jumps, every bone in my body wanted the Knight Industries Two Thousand (K.I.T.T) car in my driveway! The infamous Michael Scheffe (who also would go on to build the Back to the Future DeLorean) was the brainchild behind taking a stock 1982 Pontiac Trans Am and making into something unlike anything anyone had ever seen before. While owning the real car is now a fantasy, I can still indulge my inner child thanks to a new partwork!
About a year ago, Fanhome/DeAgostini began selling a 1:8 scale Knight Industries Two Thousand (K.I.T.T.) build-up model in the UK and Europe. Unfortunately, until recently it was not available where I am in the United States. I always found that ironic as the show was developed and produced in the US. Well, it has recently come to my attention that this K.I.T.T. partwork is now available for order in the USA!
The Model
“For the first time ever, you can build one of the most famous cars in TV history. K.I.T.T. was more than just a car. He was a computer, a weapon, a friend, and a bit of a comedian.”
“Your fully accurate 1:8 scale replica has all of the special features that you remember from the show. With the included remote control watch, you can play the part of Michael Knight and control all of K.I.T.T.’s powers, including working lights, the famous red scanner and even his voice.”
